The Journal of Islamic Science (JIS) is a biannual research publication brought out since 1985 by The Muslim Association for the Advancement of Science (MAAS) based at Aligarh (India). The main objective of the Journal is to develop a new synthesis of science and religion on the basis of the principles of Islam. The Journal welcomes the intellectuals in general and the scholars of science in particular to particpate and contribute to this grand synthesis. The editorial policy of the Journal is based on the conviction that no people, individually as well as collectively can possibly apply themselves actively to the pursuit of science and technology unless it is rooted in and is based on the ideology which stimulates their psychology and actuate their potentialities. The unimpressive performance of traditional societies, particularly the Muslims, in contemporary science and technology, other important factors apart, is mainly because of the fact that the current science that dominates today is historically, culturally and even philosophically allien to them. This view is corroborated by the fact that despite its total and continuous domination on the psyche of Western man during the last hundred years its anti-human implications have never been totally out of the sight of its most enthusiastic supporters and they now appear to be more and more convinced on the element of destruction and tyranny in its character.
